How Your Data Flows

1. Overview
This page explains, in plain language, what happens to a file when you use How To CSV — complementing the legal detail in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.
2. Client-Side Processing (default)
- You select or drop a file in your browser.
- The file is loaded into browser memory (WebAssembly / Web Workers / in-browser DuckDB).
- All parsing, cleaning, conversion, and analysis happen locally on your device.
- The file content is never transmitted to LINEGON servers.
- Closing the tab or clearing browser memory removes the data; nothing persists server-side.
3. Server-Assisted Features (opt-in)
Some features (e.g. account sync, saved workflows, or explicitly labeled server-side tools) require sending data to our infrastructure. These are clearly marked in the product UI, and the associated processing is covered by our Data Processing Addendum.
4. Telemetry & Analytics
We may collect anonymized or aggregated usage metrics (e.g. which tool was opened, error counts) to improve the Service. This telemetry does not include the contents of your files.
5. Third Parties
Where third-party infrastructure (hosting, CDN, analytics) is used, only the minimum data necessary for that function is shared, under contractual data protection terms consistent with our DPA.
