Columns

ColumnTypeDescription
datedate (YYYY-MM-DD)One row per city per day for a year
citystringChicago, Miami, Denver, Seattle
temp_cdecimalTemperature in °C, follows a seasonal sine curve
humidityintegerRelative humidity, %
precipitation_mmdecimalRainfall in mm (0 on dry days)
wind_kmhdecimalWind speed, km/h
conditionstringClear, Cloudy, Rain, Storm, etc.

What makes this file useful

  • temp_c is generated from a sine wave plus noise, so seasonality is genuinely present — moving averages and decomposition will find it.
  • precipitation_mm is 0 on dry days and only positive when condition is a rain type, so the two columns are consistent.
  • The data is long-format (one row per city-day), which is what most charting and pivot tools expect.

Use cases

  • Plot temperature over the year and see the seasonal curve
  • Compute a 7-day moving average of temp_c per city
  • Compare cities on average rainfall or windy days
  • Practise resampling daily data to monthly

Frequently asked questions

Is this real weather data?

No. It is generated from a seasonal model. It behaves like real weather but is not measured from any station.

What date range does it cover?

A full year starting 1 January 2026, four cities per day.

Is it wide or long format?

Long format — one row per city per day. Pivot on city if you need columns per city.
