What makes this file useful

  • Every customer_id here exists in the sample customers file, so an inner join loses no rows — ideal for teaching joins.
  • status includes Cancelled and Returned, which you usually want to exclude from revenue — a good filtering exercise.
  • Multiple orders share a customer_id, so per-customer aggregation produces meaningful groups.

Use cases

  • Join orders to the sample customers CSV on customer_id
  • Count and filter orders by status (how many still Processing?)
  • Build a revenue-over-time chart from date and total
  • Calculate average order value and repeat-purchase rate
